Stephen Fulton Misses Weight — Now Can’t Win Foster’s WBC Belt

Stephen Fulton Misses Weight — Now Can’t Win Foster’s WBC Belt

Stephen Fulton surprisingly came in 2 lbs overweight at 132 lbs for his fight against WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster at Friday’s weigh-in for their undercard fight this Saturday, December 6th, at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

No Title at Stake Now

What this means is Foster’s WBC 130-lb title won’t be at stake with Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) being ineligible to capture the belt if he wins. The fight will still happen. It’s odd that Fulton, who fights at featherweight, would come in overweight by two pounds when he was moving up in weight by four pounds.

Foster’s Smirk Says Plenty

During the face-off at the weigh-in today, Foster (23-3, 12 KOs) smirked at Fulton, looking like he was enjoying the misery of his failure on the scale. It was like a mini-victory for O’Shaquie before their fight. It’ll be interesting to see if Fulton can get some extra motivation from this to fight harder than he already intended.

“Fulton is two pounds overweight, three attempts at the scale, and missed it? Come on, what’s going on?” said Tim Bradley on his channel, reacting to Stephen Fulton coming in overweight at 132 lbs at today’s weigh-in for his fight against WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster this Saturday.

For Fulton to be this off on making weight it suggests that he either didn’t take the fight as seriously as he should have, or his scales at the gym or at home were off. There’s no other explanation.

How Weight Could Affect Fight

“Ain’t this guy [Fulton] going up and challenging the champion [Foster] at 130 lbs? This is a 126-pounder. What is going on, man? That tells you right there that this man wasn’t disciplined during camp.

“It could backfire on Fulton. He could be slow, sluggish, fat in there. I already know where I’m going. I’m going down to the body,” said Bradley.
