‘Kid is being RUINED’ – Paul Scholes slams Ruben Amorim for ‘bulls***’ Kobbie Mainoo saga and says ‘enough is enough’

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Scholes lambasted manager Ruben Amorim’s treatment of Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo, 20, enjoyed a breakthrough season last year but has only started once this term in August’s shock Carabao Cup exit at Grimsby Town.

The midfielder spent the entirety of Thursday’s Premier League match with West Ham at Old Trafford on the bench and watched his team-mates draw 1-1.

After the game, Amorim, 40, was asked about the England international’s omission and he insists he sees him as much of a starter as everyone else in his squad.

The Portuguese tactician insists Mainoo‘s lack of starts is solely down to his personal choice.

Amorim said: “I see him as a starter like the other players.

“I just have to make a choice and then in the end, it’s not been Kobbie.

‘In the future, I don’t know. Again, I always think the same thing with Casemiro. [He] Was not playing and then he plays.

“I just want to win games. I don’t care who is playing.”

However, Scholes, 51, would have none of Amorim’s explanations and didn’t hold back when reacting to the Man Utd boss’ statement.

The legendary midfielder refuses to accept the notion that Mainoo is left out of “a team that can’t control a game of football”.

The England great insists the youngster is being “ruined” at Old Trafford and wouldn’t blame him if he left.

Scholes posted on an Instagram story: “Bulls***!

“The kid is being ruined, not being played in a team that can’t control a game of football.

“Hate seeing home grown players leave but it’s probably best for him now, enough is enough.”

Mainoo wanted to leave Man Utd on loan for Napoli during the late stages of the summer transfer window.

The Italian champions are still keeping tabs on the midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.
