‘Captain MM7’ – Mason Mount hailed for way he treated Leny Yoro after Man Utd star gifted Crystal Palace a penalty

MASON MOUNT has been hailed for his classy act with Manchester United team-mate Leny Yoro at Selhurst Park.

The young defender gifted Crystal Palace their opener after fouling Jean- Philippe Mateta – with the Eagles star converting from the spot.

Mason Mount consoled Leny Yoro after his Man Utd team-mate gave away a penalty
Mount had words of wisdom for his Man Utd colleague

Ruben Amorim’s men went in a goal down at the break, but the Red Devils producing a spirited fight back in the second period to turn the game on its head and secure all three points.

Joshua Zirkzee and Mount grabbed the goals for the visitors – but it was the treatment of Yoro – hooked before the hour – that caught the eye on social media.

One punter wrote: “Captain MM7.”

Another commented: “Good on Mount, Yoro is young and this will be part of his growth. But he still needs support.”

A fellow punter posted: “BIG UP to Mason Mount for this after the game btw. Yoro is going through a tough patch that all young stars go through, but he’s an incredible talent and I’m glad to see the others helping him.”

One further United fan said: “This is great from Mason Mount after the game supporting Leny Yoro who is having a tough time at the moment.”

Yoro didn’t escape the pundit microscope at half-time as Joe Cole and Peter Crough delivered their views on the penalty incident.

Cole told TNT Sport: “It’s just so clumsy.

“He’s got the wrong side of him. You’ve got to sort your feet out, he’s tripped over his own feet.

“It’s really clumsy and he needs to learn that, in the Premier League, you’ll get punished.”

Crouch added:  “It’s so frustrating from Yoro.”

Rangers hero Ally McCoist was on co-commentary duty and branded the moment from Yoro as ‘naive’

He insists there was NO need to make the challenge with Matthijs De Ligt on the cover.

He said: “It’s just naive defending. You’ve got to let him go.’

“You can’t make that challenge there! You can’t do it.

Man Utd ratings: Bruno Fernandes steps up as captain, Luke Shaw solid at the back but Yoro suffers another nightmare

BRUNO FERNANDES and Luke Shaw carried Manchester United to a rare 2-1 win at Selhurst Park to end Crystal Palace’s 12-game unbeaten home run in the Premier League.

“He’s going on to De Ligt, you must let him go and try and get back in goal-side maybe.

“Does he slip? He might slip but there’s no need at all to make that challenge.”

The comeback win for United leaves them just a couple of points outside the top four and the Champions League spots.

It was the perfect response to the defeat last time out at home to Everton.

Next up is a home clash with struggling West Ham before visiting basement boys Wolves next weekend.
