Marcelo, now 37 and retired, was part of the crowd as Madrid made it five-from-five in the prestigious competition.

The former Brazil international played less one season at Olympiacos after leaving Madrid in 2022.

He only made 10 appearances but scored three goals from defence and was seen getting his phone out to record here as Alves came on with 10 minutes to go in Greece.

Madrid were one goal to the good at the time having scored just before Alves was introduced.

The youngster is a striker, unlike his dad, and turned 16 in September.

Madrid extended his youth contract until 2027 last year, hitting the maximum length on an academy deal such is his talent and eye for a goal.

Uefa Youth League games are played at Under-19 level with Alves representing his country (Spain) from U15 to U17 in the past two years.

Alves was born in Madrid in 2009, at which point Marcelo was less than three seasons into his Santiago Bernabeu career.

The legendary left-back would go on to win 24 major trophies with Madrid, including a haul of five Champions League titles.

Marcelo returned to boyhood side Fluminense and won the Copa Libertadores.

He played almost 550 times for Madrid, getting over 100 games for Fluminense, and 58 Brazil caps.

Now watching the next generation come through, Marcelona has seen his son captain his country’s U17s and score in the same game against Denmark in October.

He could yet switch to play for Brazil further down the line if he wanted to due to Marcelo’s heritage.
