NBA veteran-turned-podcaster Patrick Beverley reportedly arrested for third-degree felony assault family violence

NBA veteran-turned-podcaster Patrick Beverley reportedly arrested for third-degree felony assault family violence

NBA veteran Patrick Beverley was arrested Friday in Texas on a charge of assault family violence/household impeding breath, according to Fox 26 Houston and TMZ.

The charge is a third-degree felony, which is punishable by two to 10 years in prison in Texas. Beverley has reportedly posted $40,000 bond and was scheduled to be released later Friday.

The details of what led to Beverley’s arrest are not yet known.

Beverley hasn’t played in an NBA game since May 2, 2024 when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. That game saw him get involved in an altercation with Indiana Pacers fans in which he hit a woman in the head with a ball, asked for the ball back from another fan, then whipped it back at him in the final minutes of a one-sided game.

That incident resulted in the NBA suspending Beverley four games, which he has yet to serve, and the Pacers fans filing a lawsuit against him with claims of “physical pain,” emotional distress, “humiliation, embarrassment and anguish,” medical expenses and lost wages.

Beverley didn’t sign with an NBA team the following offseason, instead landing with Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball League. That tenure ended in ugly fashion as well, with the team suspending him in February and later parting ways.

The 37-year-old guard hasn’t officially retired, but no team signed him for this season either. He’s spent more of his time on his podcast, but has been dealing with criticism there this week as well due to comments he mad about Klay Thompson’s relationship with Megan Thee Stallion.

In that case, Beverley speculated that Megan had thrown Thompson’s routine off, following the age-old tactic of blaming a relationship on an athlete’s struggles while conveniently leaving out that Thompson is 35 years old, is in the post-Achilles tear phase of his career and is on a team with much, much bigger problems than him.

Thompson didn’t appreciate the attention, commenting on Instagram “How would y’all feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21 … Do better fellas. Very disappointing.”
