The incident was sparked when Pedri received a second yellow card for a foul on Aurelien Tchouameni.

Tensions flared with both benches coming together as players and staff began gesticulating and firing angry words across.

Vinicius Jr and Alejandro Balde had a coming together and both were dragged back by their respective teams.

Moments later the referee’s final whistle blew, sparking another huge brawl next to the centre circle.

Real boss Xabi Alonso ran onto the pitch and began dragging his players away from the melee.

There was pushing and shoving with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois particularly incensed as he shouted at Lamine Yamal.

Ref César Soto Grado had attempted to stifle the chaos by dishing out yellow cards to the bench moments after Pedri’s red.

Courtois was held back by his team-mates after pushing Frenkie De Jong after attempting to reach Yamal.

The youngster also exchanged tense words with Dani Carvajal, who made a gesture which appeared to imply that he felt Yamal had been speaking too much.

Amidst the disorder in the dugouts matchwinner Jude Bellingham geed up the home crowd by raising his arms in celebration.

The England international swept home a first-half winner at the back post after Eder Militao headed back across goal.

It came five minutes after Fermin Lopez had cancelled out Kylian Mbappe‘s 22nd-minute opener.
