LEYTON ORIENT fans had a field day with a steward who rocked up to Brisbane Road in a gleaming pair of football boots.
The bright white Adidas footwear looked fresh out of the box and will have given him all the grip he needed – to stand next to the corner flag.
Punters quickly caught on and began poking fun during Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Lincoln City.
Renditions of “he’s got his boots for his birthday” and “we’re only here for the steward” rang out from the stands.
At one point, when he brought an errant ball down and nudged it back into play, punters sang: “Sign him up, sign him up, sign him up.”
Even the other stewards were getting on the act, smiling and patting their pal on the back as the singing continued.

The steward himself mainly tried not to engage but showed it had all been good-natured with a cheeky grin and a salute to the stands.
He even got a dedicated social media post after the game, with Orient’s official account uploading a video of the chanting to X captioned: “Our stewards > your stewards”.
Idris El Mizouni’s winner moved Orient up to 14th in the League One table, having picked up five victories from their 14 games.
Lincoln are licking their wounds but they remain in a better position to seal promotion, sitting sixth.

Orient boss Richie Wellens insists he can “feel something” brewing in the group after a third win in four matches.
He said: “We want to get momentum, and you see how powerful momentum is.
“Momentum is massive. It is important how we get that momentum and we play with that intensity that would put us in good stead.
“We have good players, it is so difficult when you get a brand-new group of players, knowing what they are like, knowing what I like, knowing the intensity we play at, socially as people, we had to really break it up and start it all over again.
“But I am starting to feel something from this group, and it is all credit to the players.”
