Bill Haney Unveils Devin’s 10-Fighter ‘Hit List’ — But Can He Survive Brian Norman Jr. First?

Bill Haney Unveils Devin’s 10-Fighter ‘Hit List’ — But Can He Survive Brian Norman Jr. First?

Bill Haney revealed his 10-fighter “hit list” for his son Devin Haney to take on, starting with Brian Norman Jr. on November 22nd. He says Devin (32-0, 16 KOs) has got to “get through him” to go to the next fighter on his list.

Haunted By The Ryan Garcia Beating

Haney, 26, looked terrified and overly cautious in his last fight against the aging veteran Jose Ramirez on May 2nd in Times Square. Devin appeared to be a mentally broken fighter, still haunted by the beating he took from Ryan Garcia in 2024.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said that Devin appears worried about his ability to take a punch. If Haney fights in a tentative way against Norman, he’s not going to last long.

For Haney to fight any of the fighters on his last beyond the Brian Jr. one, he’s going to have to fight with the old aggression that he’d shown when he was campaigning at 135.

  • Brian Norman Jr.: WBO
  • Mario Barrios: WBC welterweight champion
  • Rolando “Rolly” Romero: WBA belt-holder
  • Jaron “Boots” Ennis
  • Keyshawn Davis
  • Conor Benn
  • Ryan Garcia
  • Teófimo López
  • Shakur Stevenson
  • Gervonta “Tank” Davis

No Path To The Next Name

Given the way Haney has performed in his last two fights, he has very little chance of getting to the next opponent on his list. If he gets obliterated by WBO welterweight champion Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs), he can forget his delusional list.

Instead, focus on a salvage mission to rebuild against weaker fighters. Turki Alalshikh would have no reason to pour money into a Ryan Garcia vs. Haney rematch. That rivalry would be dead in the water after Norman Jr. finishes with Devin.

The Most Unrealistic Fight

“All of them are realistic. [Brian Norman] was the most unrealistic,” said Bill Haney to 78Sportstv, discussing how fans doubted he would match Devin against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr.

Haney vs. Norman Jr. will be fighting in the co-feature slot on the David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde event on DAZN PPV on November 22nd at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.

“Our next move is to get through him in order to get to our next move,” said Bill about Norman Jr. “That’s what we plan to do on November 22nd. “I see someone who has been in the division for eight years and hasn’t fought a champion yet.”

Whistling Past The Graveyard

It sounds like Bill is whistling past the graveyard, and is overlooking Haney’s dire situation going into this fight with Norman Jr. Realistically, Devin’s next move will be to fight some sub-level fighter in a confidence builder after he loses to Norman Jr.
