West Ham legend Slaven Bilic reveals he’s ‘ready’ to return to management after 14 months unemployed amid Rangers links

SLAVEN BILIC says he is “ready” to return to management amid links to Rangers.

The Croatian boss is one of the frontrunners to take the Ibrox hotseat after Russell Martin was put out of his misery earlier this month.

Martin became the Gers’ shortest-serving boss ever as he was axed after just 123 days in charge after winning just ONE of his seven Scottish Premiership games this season.

Steven Gerrard had been favourite for a return to the Gers, having won the title as manager in 2021.

But, after the Liverpool legend surprisingly ruled himself out of the running, Bilic has emerged as an option.

Former West Ham boss Bilic, 57, has been out of work since leaving Saudi side Al Fateh last year and admits he’s keen for a return.

Bilic told Croatian media: “Of course I’m ready for work.

“I’m in a good age and part of me wants to work, but I’m waiting for the right offer. In the meantime, I’m enjoying myself.

“I’m still working with [former assistants]Danilo Butorovic and Dean Racunic. I have good people around me.”

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl emerged as the favourite to land the role in the wake of Gerrard’s withdrawal from the process.

But SunSport exclusively revealed on Monday afternoon that Kevin Muscat was firmly in the race.

Rohl, 36, is said to have impressed owners Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe in an interview last week.

Neil Lennon says Rangers mob’s abuse of Russell Martin was HORRENDOUS and they should be BARRED

And the pair are understood to favour a younger coach, which could work against Bilic.

Bilic joined West Ham in 2015, taking the Hammers to seventh in the Premier League in his first season and Europa League qualification.

He also managed Championship side West Brom, leading them back to the Prem in 2020 after finishing runners-up.
