‘No excuses’ – Senne Lammens says Man Utd have ‘everything to succeed’ ahead of daunting run of fixtures

NEW Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens believes the players have “everything to succeed”.

Lammens, 23, kept a clean sheet on his debut in the 2-0 win against Sunderland last week and was so competent he was serenaded with a rendition of “Are you Schmeichel in disguise?” from the Stretford End.

The Belgium international joined United from Royal Antwerp for £18.2million on transfer deadline day but had to wait nearly five weeks to make his first appearance.

United coach Ruben Amorim picked Lammens after Altay Bayindir was culpable for yet another goal in the miserable 3-1 defeat at Brentford last month.

Lammens, who is on international duty with Belgium ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Wales in Cardiff on Monday, is set to continue in goal for his club against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

In an interview recorded before his bow against Sunderland, Lammens discussed his first month in the United camp.

He said: “We have everything here to succeed. To help us in our way of training to get ready for games. There are no excuses.

“It’s been very nice. Quite good, it’s been a big change in everything, every aspect is bigger. It’s been good. The team has welcomed me with open arms.

“The first couple of weeks was a little bit getting used to everything, getting settled. And the last week or two I’ve been training good and building up my life here in Manchester.”

United moved back into the top half of the Premier League table with three points against Sunderland, but they have failed to win in their past ten games at Anfield.

After they take on their fiercest rivals next week, United play Brighton at home, Nottingham Forest away and Tottenham away.

They lost all three corresponding fixtures last term.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe says Ruben Amorim could get up to two more YEARS to prove himself at Man Utd
