EMMA RADUCANU was forced to retire from her first-round match at the Wuhan Open after having her blood pressure checked.
The Brit was seen struggling in the humid conditions during her match with Ann Li.
Raducanu was already 6-1 4-1 down in the clash when she decided to retire following a medical timeout.
Having broke Li’s serve during the first set, Raducanu then proceeded to lose the next six games in a row.
She even appeared to be dizzy at points during the second set of the match.
Medics were seen checking over the 22-year-old as she sat down by the side of the court, with her blood pressure, temperature, pupils and heart rate also being taken.
Raducanu managed to stand and wrapped her towel around her shoulder before shaking hands with the umpire and Li and walking off the court.
The WTA physio and tournament doctor was seen shaking her head when informing the umpire of Raducanu’s retirement.
After the game, Li said: “First I want to wish Emma a fast recovery.
“Not sure what, but looked like she wasn’t feeling good.”
Event organisers at the Optics Valley Tennis Center had partially closed the roof to help provide shade for the court, but amid heat reaching almost 30 degrees and high humidity it still proved a huge obstacle to overcome.
Li, who progresses into the second round, added: “But yeah, tough match last time, so I knew it was going to be tough, but I wish her to feel better.
“But yeah, I’m happy with my performance, I was pretty solid the entire match.”
Raducanu had climbed up to No.30 in women’s singles tennis earlier in the week despite a round of 32 defeat to Jessica Pegula in the China Open.
