Trainer Bozy Ennis Expects a Destructive Display from His Son Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in Saturday’s Lima Clash on DAZN

Trainer Bozy Ennis Expects a Destructive Display from His Son Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in Saturday’s Lima Clash on DAZN

Trainer Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis predicts that former unified two-belt welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is going to put on a “devastating performance” in his debut at 154 against Uisma Lima this Saturday, October 11, on DAZN.

“Cabdriver” Talk on X

Fans on social media aren’t expecting anything else but an impressive victory for Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs). They’re not being too kind to him about the quality of his opponent, labeling him a “bum’ and a cabdriver, among other things. The overall perception fans have of Ennis is that he’s intentionally facing weak opposition to artificially maintain his unbeaten record.

Fans Demand Elite Foes

People are growing impatient with the glacially slow progress that the Eddie Hearn-promoted ‘Boots,’ 28, has been making in moving his career to the next level. They want to see Ennis fight A-level and elite-level opposition already. He and Hearn have chosen to stick with soft opposition.

According to Hearn, Saturday’s fight for ‘Boots’ against Lima (14-1, 10 KOs) is supposed to be the last before he faces WBC interim junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. in early 2026. However, Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya hasn’t verified whether the fight will happen.

Saturday’s Ennis vs. Lima fight is a WBA 154-lb title eliminator for the belt held by Abass Baraou. So, even if the Ortiz Jr. contest doesn’t happen for Ennis, he’ll be in a great position to fight Baraou for the WBA title.

“He moved up because he’d been 10 years at 147,” said trainer Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis to YSM Sports Media about Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis moving up to 154 on Saturday for his debut in the new weight class.

The Weight Drain Is Over

Ennis had looked drained making weight for the last two years, but chose to stay in the division despite his struggles to get down to the 147-lb limit. He’d said that he wanted to stay long enough to become undisputed.

Eventually, he realized that the two belt-holders that he needed to complete his goal weren’t going to fight him. At that point, it was pointless for Ennis to stay at welterweight any longer and stunt his career worse than it already had been.

Statement Fight or Setup?

“I know he’s going to be strong. He was strong at 147. Now that he’s moving up, he’s going to be that much stronger,” said Bozy about Ennis. “So, I think it’s going to be a devastating performance with him and Lima.”
