Lamont Roach announced his fight today on X against WBC interim light welterweight champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz for December 6th on PBC on Prime Video pay-per-view in San Antonio, Texas.
Roach’s Skit Goes Viral
Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) created a theatrical skit of himself at a restaurant, seated by friends, ordering a gourmet meal from a menu with the following names on it:
- Gervonta Davis – “Gourmet Duck”
- Shakur Stevenson – “Silver Platter”
- Isaac Cruz – “Dog Catcher Special’
- Gary Russell Jr. – “Old Man Special”
Naturally, Roach selected ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs), who he’ll be facing in the main event on December 6th in a Premier Boxing Champions card. Roach, 30, will be leaving his WBA super featherweight title behind for the second consecutive fight in moving up two weight classes to challenge Cruz for his interim WBC 140-lb strap.
The Dog Catcher’s Choice
“I’m going to go with the dog catcher’s special right here. On December 6th, live in San Antonio, Texas, I will be fighting Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on pay-per-view for the WBC interim light [welterweight] champion of the world,” said Lamont Roach on X, announcing his fight against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz for December.

Matias or Smith Next?
Lamont didn’t say whether he’ll stay at light welterweight to challenge the winner of the fight between WBC champion Subriel Matias and Dalton Smith on January 10, 2026, in New York. That would be a difficult fight for Roach going up against either of those fighters, as they both can punch.
Moreover, in Matias’ case, he never stops attacking, and he wouldn’t give Roach a moment of rest the way his last opponent, Gervonta Davis, did in their 12-round majority draw on March 1, 2025.
The Bite Behind the Bark
The former WBA light welterweight champion ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, 27, recently won the vacant WBC interim 140-lb title on July 19, 2025, defeating Omar Salcido by a 10-round unanimous decision. In Cruz’s previous fight, he’d beaten Angel Fierro by a 10-round unanimous decision earlier this year on February 1.
In Cruz’s best career win, he dethroned WBA 140-lb champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, knocking him out in the eighth round on March 30, 2024.
