Championship club unveil stunning plans to expand stadium… but thousands of fans will be forced to relocate

NORWICH have announced plans to expand Carrow Road, but thousands of fans will have to be relocated.

The Canaries have been playing in the famous ground since 1935 and it currently holds a capacity of 27,244.

The Norfolk club have now revealed planned work that will improve and expand the stadium.

The plans will see improvements made to the ground, which includes a new fan zone behind the Barclay Stand.

Planning permission has also been requested for changes in the South and Regency Security Stands.

This will see new facilities added and a new segregated away entrance point.

A club statement read: “From the start of the 2026/27 season, the club will introduce a new stadium map.

“These changes will allow the club to better the matchday experience for all supporters attending games at Carrow Road, with the introduction of new and more bespoke offerings.

“This will help us further improve the matchday experience for home supporters.”

However, as the work takes place season ticket holders in the Regency Security Stand and a section of the South Stand will be relocated.

The BBC have estimated that over 3,000 fans could be impacted by the work.

Those who will be impacted have already been contacted, according to the club.

The statement added: “The club fully understands that relocating their seat will be a big change for some of our long-standing season ticket holders.

“Those season tickets holders directly impacted by these upcoming changes will have already received a direct communication from the club via email and we will do everything possible to ensure that this is a smooth process.”

The last part of the planned work would see the City Stand be redeveloped.

But the BBC have suggested that this would only be done if the club establishes itself in the Premier League.

Norwich are currently 19th in the Championship after an inconsistent start to the season.

They have only won two of their eight fixtures ahead of the East Anglian derby against Ipswich Town.
