Chelsea legend’s son, 16, spotted working as Stamford Bridge ballboy during Champions League clash

Chelsea legend’s son, 16, spotted working as Stamford Bridge ballboy during Champions League clash

CHELSEA fans were doing double takes on Tuesday night after spotting a familiar name working the sidelines and it could signal the start of a new Stamford Bridge dynasty.

One of the ballboys during the Blues’ 1-0 Champions League win over Benfica was none other than Isago da Silva, the 16-year-old son of club legend Thiago Silva.

Isago, a rising talent in Chelsea’s academy, was on duty for the big European clash, which also marked Jose Mourinho’s dramatic return to the Bridge.

And while dad Thiago lifted the Champions League with Chelsea back in 2021, his eldest son is now making his own mark at the club.

Isago plays as a central defender for the Under-18s and is tipped as one to watch, much like his old man, who was one of the best centre-backs of his generation.

Last year, the teen helped the Under-15s win the Premier League Floodlit Super Cup and has continued climbing through the ranks.

It might not be long before we see the name “Silva” on the back of a Chelsea shirt once again, and not just one.

Isago’s younger brother Iago is also in the club’s youth set-up, with both boys dreaming of playing professionally in blue.

Chelsea’s academy pathway has had mixed success in recent years, but the likes of Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, and Josh Acheampong have all broken through.

Isago shared snaps of himself pitchside on Instagram — memories that could become historic if he goes on to make the first team.

And proud dad Thiago has already admitted it’s his dream to one day see both of his sons play for the club he loves.

Speaking in 2023, the Brazilian said: “For me, it would be a dream to see them play professionally at Chelsea. I love watching them and helping as much as I can.”

Unprecedented circumstances and red card woe add to Maresca’s Chelsea blues

Now 41, Thiago is back in Brazil captaining Fluminense, but the next generation of Silvas could be on the rise in West London.

He joined Chelsea quite late in his career but left as a legend after exceeding expectations

Chelsea v Benfica ratings

CHELSEA got a much-needed win against Benfica – and ruined Jose Mourinho’s Stamford Bridge homecoming at the same time.
