Dream Team bosses rushing to ditch two of the game’s most popular players ahead of Gameweek 7

Dream Team bosses rushing to ditch two of the game’s most popular players ahead of Gameweek 7

A major turn of the tide is happening in Dream Team this week.

At the time of writing, both Mohamed Salah (£7.3m) and Joao Pedro (£4.9m), two of the most popular players in the game up to this point, are among the most transferred-out players ahead of Gameweek 7.

MOST TRANSFERRED-OUT PLAYERS AHEAD OF GAMEWEEK 7 (CURRENTLY):

  1. Trevoh Chalobah
  2. Joao Pedro
  3. Mohamed Salah
  4. Marc Cucurella
  5. Hugo Ekitike

It’s incredibly rare for Liverpool’s No11 to suffer a significant dip in popularity when his availability is not an issue.

Salah’s total of 55 points puts him second among forwards but the problem is that he’s already 33 points behind long-time rival Erling Haaland (£7.7m).

And that’s before Manchester City’s No9 is unleashed upon Monaco this evening.

Dream Team managers who picked the Egyptian superstar over Haaland at the start of the season and stuck to their guns have been severely punished.

Clearly, Gameweek 6 has been breaking point for many gaffers.

Salah mustered three points against Crystal Palace at the weekend and added just one more at Galatasaray on Tuesday night having been restricted to a 28-minute cameo as a second-half substitute.

In contrast, Haaland banked 21 points via two goals and an assist as Pep Guardiola’s side overwhelmed Burnley.

The Norwegian poacher will rub even more salt into the wounds if he continues his fine form in the Champions League later today.

Salah to Haaland is an obvious transfer this week, one overdue for those who have foolishly gone without the latter so far this campaign.

That being said, Anfield’s hero has the capacity to deliver massive returns in the coming weeks as Arne Slot’s side are due to face Manchester United, Frankfurt, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Real Madrid in the space of just 17 days after the international break.

Dream Team bosses with both Haaland and Salah up top will be hopeful of a prosperous autumn.

As for Pedro, he endured a miserable Gameweek 6, even worse than Salah’s.

The Brazilian forward was relatively ineffective against former club Brighton on Saturday, registering three points at full time.

Then on Tuesday night, he was shown two yellow cards against Benfica despite playing just 29 minutes, incurring minus two points in the process.

The Blues have become overly familiar with red cards lately.

Pedro’s grand total of one point from two fixtures has provoked a significant popularity drop.

His current ownership of 32.9% is still enough to make him Dream Team’s fourth-most selected player but at one stage he appeared in over 45% of teams.

The 24-year-old is suspended for Chelsea’s next Champions League game, Ajax at Stamford Bridge, meaning he will not pull double duty in Gameweek 8.

It’s no wonder so many gaffers have lost patience.

Coincidentally, this weekend brings Salah and Pedro together as Liverpool are due in West London on Saturday.
