COLE PALMER turned the heads of Chelsea fans as he watched the Blues beat Jose Mourinho’s Benfica in a matching puffer jacket and trousers set.
The talisman was ruled out of the Champions League contest due to a groin injury that has seen him sidelined until the international break.
He was present at Stamford Bridge all the same to cheer his teammates on, but his outfit choice became the subject of debate among supporters on social media.
The 23-year-old donned a warm-looking puffy beige set, and watched on from the sidelines with his hood up.
Fans on social media found the fit hilarious.
One fan compared the England international to a famous mascot, saying: “Bros dressed as the Michelin Man.”
Another joked: “Wondered where my mattress protector had gone.”
And a third fan chimed in: “Is he on the moon?”
He was not the only player in the video to be the subject of jokes from supporters for his outfit choice.
Defender Tosin Adarabioyo can be seen in the background behind Palmer, donning a leather jacket and baggy black trousers.
A fan joked: “Palmer and his bodyguard uncle Tosin.”
It was a change of wardrobe for Palmer, who had been seen earlier that day watching Chelsea U19s take on Benfica’s youth side.
In that appearance he wore a thinner black tracksuit set, but must have been chilly, having swapped it out for a heavier duty set for the main event.
Chelsea squeezed to a narrow 1-0 victory in the match, but sorely lacked the spark of their star attacker.
One fan lamented: “Bet he’s gutted not to be playing. Chelsea could use his creativity right now.”
If there was ever a fixture that you would want your best players for, it would be for league-leaders Liverpool‘s trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Now it is up to Enzo Maresca to find a way to outsmart Arne Slot’s men without his biggest threat.
