Janibek Alimkhanuly revealed today on social media that he’s got a “big announcement” coming soon for a “big fight.”
It’s a similar post that IBF and WBO middleweight champion Janibek had made a week ago, sounding mysterious about what many fans believe is a unification clash against WBC belt-holder Carlos Adames.
Fans Speculate on Carlos Adames
Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs) has repeatedly pressured Adames (24-1-1, 18 KOs) with posts on X, attempting to shame him into taking the fight at times. If he finally gets his way, it’ll be interesting for fans to see these two 160-lb champions battle it out in a three-belt unification fight.
Fans are hoping that Alimkhanuly’s big news is a clash against Terence Crawford. But it’s much too early for Crawford to be naming his next opponent after dethroning undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on September 13th.
It’s believed that Crawford is going to sit and wait to see if the Mexican superstar will ask for a rematch. That would be another massive payday for Terence. He’s not going to get that kind of money fighting Janibek.

Buddy McGirt Warns Against Crawford
Janibek’s old coach, Buddy McGirt, doesn’t believe he should fight Terence Crawford right now. He doesn’t think he’s ready. However, if the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Alimkhanuly isn’t ready now, he may never be. He’s 32 years old and can’t afford to wait two to three years. By then, Crawford will likely be retired because he’s 38 right now.
“I don’t think Janibek should fight Crawford right now,” said Janibek’s former coach Buddy McGirt to MillCity Boxing. “Janibek is the best at 160 right now. I don’t think he would beat Terence right now. It would be a great fight. From training him [Alimkhanuly] and being with him, he’s not going to beat Terence.”
