NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has taken over as West Ham manager following Graham Potter’s dismissal.
Potter, 50, was sacked after a dismal start to the season with the Hammers now second to bottom in the Premier League table after losing four of their first five matches, of which they only won one.
SunSport reported that Nuno, 51, was in advanced talks to take the top job at the London Stadium.
The Portuguese tactician, who was himself sacked by Nottingham Forest after only three games of this season, will be the club’s third manager in the calendar year.
Potter only replaced Julen Loptegui in January, with the Spaniard having succeeded David Moyes last summer.
West Ham held talks with the Portuguese boss, 51, ahead of their home game against Crystal Palace last week but initially held fire over pulling the trigger following another defeat.
It is unclear at this stage if Nuno will be in the dugout for their visit to Everton on Monday night to face former boss Moyes.
A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the club.
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.
“The Club can confirm that Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect.
“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.
“The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay, who has worked with Potter throughout his career and joined from Chelsea earlier this year, remains in post for now.
