Shakur Stevenson in Full Meltdown Over Gervonta Davis: Forbids Media From Bringing Up “Lil Girl” After Retirement Announcement

Shakur Stevenson sent a message to his followers and media today, telling them not to mention “lil girl” Gervonta Davis anymore following his post on social media, in which he said he’s retiring in “eight weeks.”

Fans Roast Stevenson’s Social Media Tantrum

Stevenson said not to mention Tank anymore because he’s “officially moving on.” Fans on social media are enjoying how Shakur is having a tantrum over Gervonta choosing to retire in weight weeks after he picks up a massive payday fighting Jake Paul on November 14 on Netflix in Miami, Florida.

Oh yeah for future references don’t ask me about that lil girl no more this go for all reporters and interviewers I don’t want to hear that shit no more, she told yall she will never fight me so I’m officially moving on 🦾

“I am… in 8 weeks,” said Gervonta Davis today, September 26, 2025, on X, letting fans know that he’s retiring in eight weeks after scooping up a giant career-high payday against Jake Paul on November 14.

Interestingly, the Newark, New Jersey native didn’t want to create his own path to build himself into a star like Gervonta had done. He just wanted him to give him a fight that he wasn’t trying to earn.

Shakur’s Desperation Drove Tank Away

Tank likely would have given Shakur the chance if he hadn’t seemed so desperate, clingy, suffocating, and mentioned him so often. It’s so off-putting when someone is like that. You can understand why Davis didn’t want to give Stevenson the time a day.

Stevenson had been pestering Davis nonstop, seemingly since he moved up to the lightweight division in 2023, bringing him up in interviews, telling fans and the media how certain he was that he’d beat him. He came across to some fans as obsessed with Tank and very needy.

Must Build His Own Stardom

Now that Tank Davis has made it known he’s retiring, Shakur is going to have to build his own career without clout chasing. What that means is Stevenson is going to have to take real risks by fighting the contenders in the lightweight division. Super featherweight Lamont Roach doesn’t count because he’s a weak puncher, and he doesn’t fight at 135.

Rising Lightweights Stevenson Can’t Ignore Anymore

For Shakur to become a star, he’s going to have to win his fight against Teofimo Lopez in 2026, then run the gauntlet through these lightweights:

  • Andy Cruz
  • Jadier Herrera
  • Abdullah Mason
  • Floyd Schofield
  • Raymond Muratalla
