Richarlison among transfer targets for Gameweek 6 ahead of European double headers aplenty

Richarlison among transfer targets for Gameweek 6 ahead of European double headers aplenty

DREAM TEAM managers have until 11am on Saturday morning to confirm their transfers for Gameweek 6.

For the first time this season, all eight Premier League teams involved in Europe will pull double duty while the other 12 sides will play just once.

Gaffers keen on squeezing the schedule (a wise strategy) should be looking in the direction of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham when browsing transfer targets this week.

Allow us to put forward some suggestions.

Richarlison (£3.1m)

Tottenham’s double header of Wolves (h) and Bodo/Glimt (a) is mighty appealing on paper given Vitor Pereira’s side have lost every league game so far this season.

Richarlison has already scored three goals and provided one assist this term but right now his most appealing feature is his affordable price.

The Brazilian forward is Thomas Frank’s first-choice striker at this moment in time and looks a savvy value-for-money selection for at least the next three Gameweeks.

Mohammed Kudus (£4.7m) and the starting defenders are all strong options while Xavi Simons (£4.5m) looks like he could provide useful returns if given more minutes.

Jeremy Doku (£4m)

Manchester City v Burnley is a match-up with high potential this weekend.

The Clarets came ever so close to resisting Liverpool with the lowest of low blocks and Scott Parker will probably employ a similar approach at the Etihad but the hosts are heavy favourites for a reason.

Naturally, Dream Team bosses are expecting big things from Erling Haaland (£7.7m), who will be the most selected captain by a distance this Gameweek, but Pep Guardiola has revealed that the Norwegian poacher is not 100% fit.

It would be a surprise if the big No9 didn’t feature against the Clarets but gaffers may want to consider which other City assets might benefit from this favourable fixture.

Doku has earned 27 points across his last three outings via a goal, two assists and three bonus points.

The tricky Belgian winger produced an impressive performance at the Emirates last weekend and his dribbling ability might be the key to unlocking a deep Burnley defence on Saturday.

Phil Foden (£5m) prospered in Gameweek 5 but his minutes are still uncertain as predicting Guardiola’s line-ups remains fraught with risk.

That being said, Tijani Reijnders (£4.6m) has immediately established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet and he too seems a smart option for Gameweek 6 and beyond.

City will face Monaco in midweek.

Ryan Gravenberch (£4.1m)

Replacing Florian Wirtz (£5.6m) with Gravenberch is a popular transfer this week.

Such a move makes sense from a financial viewpoint as the German is due another price drop after his disastrous zero-pointer in the Merseyside derby while the Dutchman is set to increase in value having banked 15 points in the same fixture.

It would be a mistake to expect lots of goals from Gravenberch, who generally does his best work in the middle third of the pitch, but against Everton he showed he can make a difference closer to goal too.

The 23-year-old is an essential cog in Arne Slot’s system and virtually guaranteed to start against both Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in Gameweek 6.

It’s worth remembering that he earned more bonus points than any other player last season, making him a solid selection in the mid-range.

While we’re on the subject of Liverpool, Hugo Ekitike’s (£5m) foolish red card against Southampton means he’s suspended for Saturday’s trip to Selhurst Park.

And so Alexander Isak (£6.3m) is in pole position to lead the line.

However, Dream Team bosses keen on the Swedish striker should prepare for the fact that Ekitike is likely to return in Istanbul on Tuesday night.

Both players’ viability is hindered when they are forced to share minutes.

Neco Williams (£3m)

A somewhat left-field suggestion here as Nottingham Forest have won just one of their seven games in all competitions this season.

However, they looked good against Real Betis and should have trounced the Spanish outfit in their Europa League showdown on Wednesday night.

The English clubs involved in the Conference League and Europa League supplied loads of midweek points last season and many gaffers are hoping for the same again from this year’s crop, Forest included.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have the luxury of two home games this coming Gameweek: Sunderland and Midtjylland.

Williams is coming off a massive 19-point return in Gameweek 5 and is therefore due a price rise on Saturday morning.

The Welsh full-back scored against Burnley (plus three bonus points) before registering two big chances created and four tackles against Betis.

He may not be a long-term pick he’s certainly viable for Gameweek 6.

Elliot Anderson (£3.9m) has quietly amassed 35 points this season, putting him alongside Reijnders, Kudus and Bruno Fernandes (£5.9m) in the rankings.

The England midfielder ranks joint-second overall for bonus points (10) among all players at the time of writing — a handy enabler available for a fraction under £4m before the deadline.
