Man Utd ‘agree transfer for Colombia U17 captain Cristian Orozco’ as Ruben Amorim looks to the future

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly agreed a deal to sign a highly-rated Colombian youngster as Ruben Amorim looks to the future at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils look set to invest in their youth once again, this time on 17-year-old Cristian Orozco.

According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra – who was the first to break Luis Diaz’ move from Porto to Liverpool in 2022 – United have agreed a deal for Orozco.

It’s claimed that Man Utd’s recruitment team have a preliminary agreement in place with the teenager’s current club, Fortaleza CEIF – who play in the Colombian top flight.

Orozco, who predominantly operates as a defensive midfielder, is yet to make his professional debut, but has shone at youth level for the Colombia national side.

The rising star is captain of the South American nation’s U17 side and helped guide them to the final of the U17 South American Championships last spring.

Orozco will reportedly join United next year after his 18th birthday in July.

He will become the next in a line of young talent scooped up by United’s scouts in recent seasons.

Full-back Diego Leon was poached away from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno earlier this year in a £3m transfer.

The Paraguay U20 international was taken on Man Utd’s pre-season tour of the US and has been named in the senior matchday squad twice this season.

While Arsenal duo Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi were lured from North London to Manchester last season with both players already making their senior bows for United.

It comes after a host of Carrington academy graduates have been moved on from United in recent seasons.

Scott McTominay, Mason Greenwood, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Elanga and Alvaro Carreras are just a few of those that have gone on to succeed elsewhere.
