Derek Chisora Announces “The Last Dance 2” for December 13, for His 50th and Final Professional Fight

Derek Chisora Announces “The Last Dance 2” for December 13, for His 50th and Final Professional Fight

Derek Chisora announced today on Instagram that he’s fighting on December 13 for “The Last Dance’ 2” in Manchester, England.

The “Road to 50” Concludes

Chisora is wrapping up his 18-year professional career with his 50th fight. He says his opponent “will be announced soon.”

It would be a good idea for Queensberry to select a lower-tier foe for Chisora because he absorbed a lot of punishment in his recent 12-round unanimous decision win over Otto Wallin on February 8, 2025. That guy isn’t a big puncher, but he still worked over Chisora’s face.

That fight pretty much showed Derek’s ceiling for what he’s capable of doing at his age. I believe anything above the Wallin level would be a step too far for Chisora’s “Last Dance” fight.

Derek Announces “The Last Dance 2”

“We are going back to Manchester, 13 December. Road to 50, shutdown. Me and Queensberry, we are coming to shut it down in Manchester, 13 December. Opponent will be announced soon. I had one, but the big boss took him, so I’m currently arguing. The big boss said what he wants. But the road to 50. The ‘Last Dance’ 2, happening. War!” said Derek Chisora on Instagram today.

December 13 is the same date as heavyweight contender Moses Itauma is fighting, but it’s unlikely the veteran Chisora, 41, will be his opponent. Itauma is supposed to be taking a step up opponent, like Filip Hrgovic. Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) would be more of a lateral move from Moses’ last foe, Dillian Whyte.

I think Derek would at least try to throw some punches against Itauma and would be more willing to go out on his shield than how Whyte fought. That was so awful to watch and entirely unsporting.

Ideal Options for Chisora’s Farewell

  • Martin Bakole: It would be a tough fight for Chisora to face the 32-year-old Bakole (21-2, 16 KOs), but it would be excellent to attract interest for the December 13th card. If Bakole’s weight is down in the low 280s, Derek would be in serious trouble.
  • Frazer Clarke: This is a winnable fight for Chisora if the slow-moving heavy-handed Clarke (9-1-1, 7 KOs) isn’t in top form. Still, it would be a risky one because this guy is still relatively young at 34, and can punch.
  • Kubrat Pulev: What makes the 44-year-old Pulev (32-3, 14 KOs) is the WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight title he holds. Fighting for a world title would be the perfect sendoff for Chisora. If he were to win, he would be in a position to get a big-money fight against one of the top names. Other than that, Pulev is a good choice because it would be a trilogy match for Derek.
  • Joe Joyce: A rematch with the 2016 Olympic Silver medalist Joyce (16-4, 15 KOs) would be an entertaining fight for fans. Chisora edged a narrow 10-round unanimous decision over Joyce a year ago on July 27, 2024, by the scores 96-94, 96-94, and 97-92. The fight was up for grabs until the ninth when Chisora dropped Joyce.
  • Johnny Fisher: The young slugger Fisher (13-1, 11 KOs) has an all-action fighting style that makes him the perfect opponent for Chisora to fight to put on a fun fight for the fans. It’s another winnable one for Chisora, but also one that he could lose. Fisher, 26, is young and would be putting it on Derek early.
