TNT Sports forced to apologise as Man City vs Napoli coverage is interrupted by technical fault

TNT SPORTS had to apologise to viewers after their coverage of Manchester City vs Napoli in the Champions League was hit by technical issues.

The broadcast was interrupted by an issue that saw the coverage switch to the build up for Newcastle United vs Barcelona instead.

Fans tuning into TNT Sports 2 were left perplexed after Gianluigi Donnarumma’s sit-down interview was followed by the build up from St James’ Park.

After quickly realising their mistake, a statement popped up on fans’ screens that read: “We apologise for the technical difficulties. We return to Man City vs Napoli on TNT 2 shortly.”

After the issue was resolved, some 15 minutes on, presenter Reshmin Chowdhury discussed the issues again.

She said: “Hello welcome back everybody, we did have to leave you for a short while due to technical issues but we’re back and so are they.”

Fans were finally able to watch the Etihad preamble again after the issue was resolved, keen to see how Pep Guardiola’s side got on against some familiar faces.

Former City star Kevin De Bruyne made his return to the club for the first time since leaving for Napoli in the summer.

Man Utd loanee Rasmus Hojlund and ex-Red Devils Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku were also back in Manchester for the game.

Hojlund, Lukaku and McTominay weren’t the only former Man Utd stars back playing Champions League football.

Marcus Rashford returned to the UK with Barcelona for their visit to face Newcastle.

In fact, in Man Utd’s first season without European football in 10 years, there are 25 former United aces competing in Uefa’s club competitions this term.
