Man Utd vs Chelsea preview

Ruben Amorim continues to be right under pressure and this game could well be a do-or-die situation for him.

Win against Chelsea and that pressure lifts. Defeat could well spell the end.

He’s already the bookies’ favourite to be the next boss sacked after just one win from four in the Premier League and that humiliating defeat from Grimsby in the cup.

United can’t continue in the bottom third of the league table, where they finished last year, and expect everything to be OK. Especially after their cost-cutting behind the scenes yet massive transfer fees paid.

The defeat in the derby was as timid as they come. They huffed and puffed but created just two shots on target – less than City themselves actually scored – and to be thumped 3-0 and no bookings accumulated probably told us where they are at the minute.

They now host a Chelsea side who were beaten in Munich on Wednesday night on their return to the Champions League.

They’ve started the season with just two wins from five in all competitions as a result after conceding an injury time equaliser to draw at Brentford last weekend.

Despite the incredible squad size and array of attacking options, last weekend and midweek showed that going forward they simply can’t survive without Cole Palmer, which must be of some concern for Enzo Maresca.

Their eight points from four games still has them up in sixth spot currently but they can’t afford to be dropping too many more points.

Though their last win in the league at Old Trafford was back in 2013.

Man Utd vs Chelsea betting tips and predictions

Doesn’t suit either

That’s quite a lengthy record that Chelsea haven’t managed to win at Old Trafford, particularly taking into account some of the poor United teams of recent seasons.

United at home have actually been relatively OK – it’s on their travels that they’ve been nothing short of terrible.

Chelsea had that tough game in midweek to contend with too and I can see them sharing the spoils here, though that doesn’t overly suit either of them.

  • Match to end a draw and both teams to score at 16/5 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE

Yellow

A real good selection of yellow card nominees from this game, particularly in the middle of the park.

Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo will all make up plenty of bet builders to be booked at the weekend.

Strangely, United sit BOTTOM of the disciplinary table with only three cards against them in the league after four games. So we’re sticking with the visitors and the latter of that list is one of seven yellow cards for the Blues so far this season and was sent off for two bookings on international duty too.

  • Moises Caicedo to be carded at 2/1 with Midnite – CLAIM HERE
