Champions League LIVE SCORES: Tottenham and Arsenal both WIN on opening night before Chelsea take on Bayern Munich

Instant impact

Martinelli wasted no time making his mark, opening the scoring for Arsenal less than a minute after stepping onto the pitch.

In a game crying out for a spark, Arteta’s decision to introduce both Martinelli and Trossard proved spot on.

The impact was immediate.

Bitter blow…

After not being picked in the England Squad, Trent Alexander Arnold’s luck has gone from bad to worse.

Starting in his first Champions League match for Real Madrid, the right back had gone down injured, hobbling off with a hamstring injury in the first FIVE minutes of the match against Marseille.

Game of the day

While we were here at SunSport covering the two games from the English sides, there was an incredible EIGHT-goal thriller between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Held at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, an incredible match unfolded. With sides level at 2-2 in the 70th minute, the German side thought they had got the victory, after going 4-2 up after Remi Bensebaini tucked away a penalty in the 86th minute for his team.

However, the Italian side was not done yet – Vlahovic managed to score what was thought of as just a consolation goal in stoppage time.

Yet that just spurred them on.

It wasn’t until the 96th minute of additional time that former Bournemouth and Newcastle defender Lloyd Kelly made his way into the box unmarked and scored with a diving header.

His goal salvaged a point for Juventus in the dying seconds, just when it seemed the game had slipped away.

Already an absolute classic Champions League match under the floodlights this season, and we’ve only just begun.
