ITV forced to apologise as technical glitch hits Legends Charity Game with John Terry, Michael Owen and Oleksandr Usyk

ITV apologised after a technical glitch hit their broadcast of the Legends Charity Game.

The broadcaster was showing the event, featuring footballing royalty such as John Terry, Pepe, Deco and Michael Owen, live on ITVX.

However, after the first half, an error left viewers without sound.

An apology flashed up on the screen as a wide shot of the Estadio Jose Alvalade remained in the background.

Sound was then restored after a few short moments, as the half-time show got underway.

SunSport have contacted ITV for comment.

A Portuguese band provided the half-time entertainment for a jubilant looking crowd.

The stars then re-emerged on to the pitch to resume the game.

Portugal legend Pauleta opened the scoring in the 16th minute after diving to connect with a Ricardo Quaresma chip.

The likes of Oleksandr Usyk, Kaka, Petr Cech, Luis Figo and Carles Puyol were all in attendance at the charity game too.

Helder Postiga added a second goal for the hosts in the second half.

However, the World XI pulled one back after Alessandro Del Piero played a clever pass into Owen.

The former England ace then poked the ball into the net past the goalkeeper with ease to halve the deficit.

Figo then rolled back the years to restore the two-goal cushion for Portugal.

Pepe added a fourth as the game ended in a 4-1 win for Portugal.
