ROY KEANE snapped at his Sky Sports colleague when discussing Milos Kerkez’ early substitution against Burnley.
Keane and Sky host David Jones were covering Liverpool’s trip to Turf Moor when the Irishman exhibited his signature edgy personality.
Kerkez had been hooked for Reds veteran Andy Robertson in the 38th minute after picking up a yellow card earlier in the half.
Keane summarised: “The circumstances is he obviously got a yellow card for a crazy dive, he then makes a foul towards the halfway line.
“He knows Burnley will be playing on the counter attack and if he makes another mistake…”
The focus of the analysis then shifted to the yellow card incident itself.
Kerkez used sharp movement to get on the ball on the edge of the box, but went to ground comically under the slightest hint of a touch from defender Josh Laurent.
“Boy, he is looking to go down,” Keane continued. “Obviously VAR, the referee, they’re all looking at it.”
Jones chose this moment to play devil’s advocate, saying: “Do you think he is just a young player who is trying to make his way at a new club, trying to make a big impression?”
But Keane was having none of it, interjecting around the word ‘player’ to speak over Jones: “No, no, be quiet Dave. No be quiet.”
He also sarcastically quipped: “He made an impression alright.”
The Hungarian joined Liverpool from Bournemouth in the summer for a fee of around £40million.
He stepped right into the starting line-up for Liverpool’s perfect start to the season, but may now have hit his first speed bump after his embarrassing dive attempt.
The mistake did not cost the Reds that dearly in the end, however, thanks to a last-gasp penalty given away by former Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.
Mohamed Salah stepped up to smash his effort into the top right corner in the 95th minute to maintain Arne Slot’s unblemished record in the Premier League this season.
