Estevao opens up on his closest Chelsea pals, learning English, and his reaction to new fan chant

BRAZILIAN wonderkid Estêvão is living his best life at Chelsea, apart from having baked beans for breakfast…

The 18-year-old is already adored by Blues fans, and he endeared himself to his nation by scoring his first international goal against Chile with a bicycle kick.

In an interview with Brazilian outlet Globo while away on international duty, he opened up on his dream start to life at Stamford Bridge.

Estevao said: “The relationship here (in Brazil) with everyone is really good.

“Of course, I’m closer to João Pedro and Andrey Santos, because we’re together every day at Chelsea.

“Ancelotti has given me all the freedom in the world to play football, to be myself.

“He’s given me the freedom to play, right? So, feeling this affection, feeling everything he represents, having opportunities with him… It’s been incredible.

“I’ve seen a lot of improvement (in speaking English). Because it’s easier to learn there.

“You’re speaking English every day, interacting with people every day.

“Of course, there are two Brazilians at the club, so I end up spending more time with them. But they also force me to speak English.

“It’s been incredible. I’m loving Chelsea, I’m loving London. I don’t think it could be better.

“We’re always apprehensive, right? Moving to another country, being further away from my family, who were back in Brazil.

“But it’s been incredible, God is blessing me. Wow, I think it’s the happiest moment of my life.

“I’ve tried everything. English breakfast, dinner, lunch. But what I miss most there is the beans.

“There are no beans there. The beans they eat in the morning are different.

“Of course, it will be easier now that I have a house, but before I was at the hotel. But I’m making the most of it here, I’m eating a lot.”

Worrying moment Joao Pedro vomits on pitch after colliding with own team-mate Martinelli leaves Chelsea fans concerned

Estevao has hit the ground running at Chelsea since his £29million move from Palmeiras, making his debut as a sub in the season’s opening game against  Crystal Palace.

He was then added into the starting line-up minutes before the second game against West Ham when Cole Palmer pulled up in the warm-up.

The Brazilian became the youngest player ever to assist a Premier League goal for Chelsea as the Blues ran out 5-1 winners.

He then kept his place in the starting line-up for the 2-0 win over Fulham.

Chelsea fans have quickly given their new star his own chant to the tune of That’s the Way (I Like It), by KC and The Sunshine Band…

He said: “I heard the little song. But the affection I see the fans have for me – not just them, but the coaching staff, everyone at Chelsea – is incredible.

“Since I arrived, I’ve felt at home. So, I just thank God for everything.

“I’m already seeing a lot of improvement in my game, because it demands a lot of you there, and it’s all the time. The game never stops.

“You have to be as focused as possible; you can’t sleep. It’s very difficult to score goals there, because there are so many quality players, so it’s demanding of me.

“It’s happening very quickly, and I’m already getting a lot of opportunities there, more than I even expected at Chelsea.

“But I think it’s the result of the hard work and dedication I’ve maintained in training.

“Enzo Maresca has a lot of confidence in me to play, even arriving in a new league, in a new country. I try to repay that on the field by giving my all.

“I thought it would take a little longer to adapt, because of the climate and the language. But, thank God, it’s happening very quickly.

“The climate there has helped a lot during the three weeks I’ve been there, because it’s not cold, it’s hot.

“Getting dark by nine o’clock at night – I think that was crucial for me, too, for my adaptation.

“And I really thank God, it’s been really, really, really good, I’m loving it.”
