EFL cult hero Steve Evans shows off incredible weight loss after losing 40 KILOGRAMS through new fitness regime

STEVE EVANS has shown off his incredible weight loss as he shed 40 KILOGRAMS in a new fitness regime.

The EFL legend is best remembered for his time on the sidelines of clubs such as Rotherham, Stevenage and Leeds United.

Evans, 62, revealed that following his sacking from Rotherham in March, he made the decision to get healthy with the help of his family.

The manager admitted that in order to take up the challenge, he had to turn down opportunities to return to the dugout.

His new fitness regime has included swimming two and a half kilometres every morning and biking regularly.

Evans has also insisted that his family did not think he would stick by the new regime but since March, he has lost 41.2KGS.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I came out of Rotherham and made some family decisions.

“Despite the phone ringing from a couple of clubs to go straight into them I made the decision to get healthy.

“I had not done it since the end of my time at Leeds United so a lot of years.

“I went to see some serious people and some specialists, a cardiologist and fitness people.

“We came up with a plan and my family did not think I would be able to do it.

“But here we are seven months of so later, six and a half stone down.

“It has been incredibly hard work, going swimming two and a half kilometres every morning and biking and walking dogs and doing so many steps.

“I am feeling the benefit now mentally and physically, fantastic.”

Fans spotted the interview on the broadcaster and were quick to hail the efforts by the manager.

One posted: “Crikey, I just saw Steve Evans on Sky and he’s lost over 6 stone in weight, so fair play to him.”

A second wrote: “Looos unreal tbf.”

A third commented: “That’s seriously impressive dedication from Steve Evans.”

A fourth said: “Way to go Steve.”

Another added: “Just watching an interview on Sky Sports with Steve Evans. Fair play. He’s lost nearly seven stone.”

Evans started his managerial career at non-league side Stamford in 1994 before moving onto Boston United.

He spent seven years at the club across two spells before earning the job at Crawley Town in 2007.

After five years at the Broadfield Stadium, he left for his first spell in charge of Rotherham in 2012.

He then made the jump to Elland Road and Leeds in October 2015 but only lasted in post for the remainder of the season.

He then had stints in the dugouts of Mansfield Town, Peterborough United, Gillingham and Stevenage before his return to the Millers.
