Miller secures 2026 MotoGP contract with Pramac Yamaha

Yamaha has announced that Jack Miller will remain at Pramac for the 2026 MotoGP season and partner World Superbike Championship star Toprak Razgatlioglu.

As reported by Autosport last month, Miller has been given the nod over current team-mate Miguel Oliveira after months of speculation over the team’s line-up.

The Australian had been growing desperate over his future at Pramac and previously warned that he would have to accept offers from “other championships” if Yamaha did not extend a contract to him.

It is understood that BMW was interested in recruiting the four-time grand prix winner as a replacement for Razgatioglu in its factory WSBK team.

Miller’s pressure, however, sprung Yamaha into action and a deal was struck at the Hungarian Grand Prix – which has now been officially announced to the public.

The 30-year-old’s breadth of experience in MotoGP, which has seen him compete for Honda, Ducati and KTM, proved decisive in Yamaha’s decision, as the Japanese manufacturer prepares to make a bold switch to V4 engines in 2026.

“I’m really happy and excited to stay with Yamaha and the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team,” he said.

“This year has been an amazing return to Pramac Racing. I’m looking forward to working hard with Yamaha to help developing the bike and closing the gap to the other manufacturers. I believe the best is still to come.

“Most of all, I want to say a massive thank you to Yamaha, Pramac Racing, and to the two Paolos, Pavesio and Campinoti, for their continuous trust in my contribution to the project.”

Ahead of this weekend’s Catalan Grand Prix, Miller sits 17th in the standings with a best finish of fifth at Austin.

Oliveira, who missed four grands prix in the early part of the year due to injury, languishes in 23rd position with just 10 points on board.

The Portuguese rider had joined Pramac on a 1+1 deal, with Yamaha having the option to drop him after the first season if certain performance criteria aren’t met.

Partly due to injuries, Oliveira hasn’t been able to achieve the set results this season, with 12th place in Balaton Park marking his best result in a Sunday race.

“It’s no secret that I have great affection for Jack, a rider who experienced an important stage of his career growth with Pramac Racing and whose return this season was welcomed with great joy by everyone in the team,” said team principal Paolo Campinoti.

“Beyond the human side, Jack’s contribution has been crucial in supporting Yamaha with the development of the YZR-M1. His confirmation as official Yamaha rider with Prima Pramac Yamaha for 2026 is important and precious.

“Managing a team sometimes requires difficult choices, and in this regard, I want to sincerely thank Miguel for the commitment and professionalism he has shown in these months, as well as the ease with which he integrated into our team. It was a pleasure having him on board and discovering not only a great professional but also a great person.”

After switching allegiance from Ducati to Yamaha over the winter, Pramac sits last in the teams’ standings, 50 points behind its nearest rival, LCR Honda.
