Bill Haney emerged today, reacting to promoter Eddie Hearn’s remark about Devin Haney and Bill just fighting for money now. Hearn said last week in an interview on YouTube that Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) has lost his love for the sport after his fight against Ryan Garcia and the subsequent fan reaction.
Hearn’s Accusation
Hearn said that Devin’s attempt to set up fights against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Teofimo Lopez was proof in his mind that he’s just focused on getting “the bag” at this stage of his career. He believes those are strategic moves by Haney and Bill, going after those two. N
ow, with Devin signed to challenge Brian Norman Jr. for his WBO welterweight title on November 22nd, Hearn says that fight is “dangerous” for Haney. He doesn’t believe he’ll be successful against Norman Jr. Hearn sees this fight as another example of Haney and Bill having become reckless in their pursuit of money.
Devin’s dad, Bill, posted today on X, lashing back at Hearn, reminding him that he’d never created a fighter that had become undisputed, three-division and three continents by age 26. Bill is getting ahead of himself with the three-division remark because Devin hasn’t done that yet. It’s impossible.
Haney turns 27 on November 17, 2025, and his fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. is on November 22nd. If Devin wins, he’ll be a three-division world champion, but he won’t have done it by age 26, as Bill predicts in his post today on social media.

In 38 years since starting in snooker, Eddie & Barry Hearn never made a Devin Haney, undisputed, 3rd division, 3rd continent by 26. The Haneys kicked their ass in the legacy department.

The Unaddressed Accusation
Interestingly, Bill failed to address Hearn’s comment about Devin fighting just for money at this stage of his career. That should have been the priority for Bill to deny that he and Devin are driven by money now. It would have played better with the fans and the media.
“When he started, all he wanted to do was chase greatness. I don’t think he’s like that anymore. I think, now, a big part of Devin is just fighting for the money,” said Eddie Hearn to Australian Boxing Central about Devin Haney.
“Bill and Devin, they’re not looking strategically. They’re looking for the bag. They’re like, ‘Where can we make our $5-6-7 million?’ That’s why they said they’ll fight [Jaron] ‘Boots’ [Ennis] at 147, ‘we’ll fight Teofimo [Lopez],” said Hearn.
