US Open star, 35, heartbroken after she’s robbed of priceless item from New York hotel room

A US OPEN tennis star was left heartbroken after a priceless item was stolen from her New York hotel room.

Sorana Cirstea reached the second round at Flushing Meadows before being knocked out by No11 seed Karolina Muchova.

However, she enjoyed a far more successful tournament in the week before the final Grand Slam of the year.

That is because the Romanian, 35, won the Tennis in the Land tournament in Cleveland.

Cirstea beat the No1 seed in the quarters then breezed past Ann Li 6-2 6-4 in the final.

The victory was the third singles title of her career.

However, the tennis world No57 took to social media with devastating news, revealing the silverware had gone missing.

Cirstea wrote: “Whoever stole my Cleveland trophy from room 314 at The Fifty Sonesta please give it back!

“It has NO material value, just sentimental value!

“It would be greatly appreciated!

“Thank you, Sorana.”

Her two previous singles titles came in Uzbekistan way back in 2008 and then in Turkey four years ago.

Her best Grand Slam results were quarter-final runs at the French Open and US Open – albeit 14 years apart.

In doubles, she won the Madrid Open this year alongside Anna Kalinskaya.

However, Cirstea and Jannik Sinner’s ex-girlfriend were dumped out in round one of the US Open event on Friday.
