Former Australian Super Lightweight champion Jake Wyllie (18-2, 16 KOs) defeated former IBF Australasian Lightweight champion Youssef Dib (21-4, 11 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision in the main event on Saturday night at the Fortitude Music Hall, in Fortitude Valley in Queensland, Australia.
In the co-feature, the former WBC World featherweight champion Skye Nicolson (14-1, 3 KOs) stopped the former WIBA World super bantamweight champion Urvashi Singh (12-4, 7 KOs) in the second round to win the vacant WBC Inter-Continental super bantamweight title in her return home.
In the first three rounds, Dib had the edge. In the fourth round, Dib spun Wyllie around, hitting him from behind, and got warned by referee Chris Condon. In the fifth round midway Dib landed a hard right to the chin of Wyllie. Seconds later, Wyllie returned the favor, rocking him with a right on the chin.
In the eighth round’s final minute, Wyllie was giving Dib all he could take the entire round. In the ninth round’s final minute, Dib landed a solid right on the chin. Wyllie came back in the final seconds, hurting Dib with a right to the body.
In the tenth and final round, Dib did a lot of holding, looking to go the distance, as Wyllie won, but another round out landing him.
The scores were 97-94, 98-92, and 98-92.
Returning to her fellow country after three years and one fight, the former Olympian and former WBC World Feather champion southpaw Skye Nicolson knocked out Urbashi Singh at 1:23 of the second round,
In the first round, Nicolson controlled with her jab and right hooks. In the second round, the taller southpaw Nicolson landed several 3-punch combinations. Then she left to the mid-section, followed by a right to the chin, turned Singh around, looking like she quit when Nicolson dropped her with a combination for the count from referee Paul Tapley.
Heavy Alexander ‘The Great’ Leapal, Jnr (6-0-1, 5 KOs) knocked out Tom ‘The Tomahawk‘ Ngapti (0-2) at 1:15 of the first round of a 6.
In the first round’s first minute, Leapal landed a right on top of the head, dropping Ngapti for an 8-count from referee Chris Condon. Shortly later, several rights dropped Ngapti again, forcing referee Condon to call the one-sided fight off.
Bantamweight Leah ‘Princess’ Reuben (3-2-1, 2 KOs) knocked out Jittamat Phomta (9-12, 6 KOs) at 1:26 of the seventh of a scheduled 8×2 rounds.
In the first four rounds, Reuben backed up Phomta with a solid jab followed by occasional rights to the chin. In the fifth round, Reuben started working the ring, countering Phomta, who chased but was outlanded.
In the seventh, a flurry of punches from Reuben had Phomta defenseless when referee Paul Tapley
Welterweight Jimmie Phusomsai (6-0, 5 KOs) defeated Patrick Clarke (2-12, 1 KO) by a four-round unanimous decision.
The scores were 40-35, 40-36, and 40-36.
Middleweight Laphya Rueben (0-2) lost to Riley Allen (2-0, 1 KO) by a four-round unanimous decision. The scores were 40-34, 40-34, and 40-34. Chris Condon was the referee.
Welterweight Surachet Tongmala (11-24, 8 KOs) was stopped by Cassidy Thornberry (1-0, 1 KO) at 1:53 of the first of a 4. Chris Condon was the referee.
