Tottenham reach £60million agreement to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace with huge upfront payment

TOTTENHAM have reached an agreement worth just over £60million to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

The North Londoners made a major breakthrough earlier today following days of talks with the Eagles.

SunSport understands that Spurs will pay £30m up front for Eze, with the rest made in instalments.

The initial payment will help Palace sign a replacement for their outgoing talisman.

Eze, 27, emerged as a key target for Tottenham following the ACL injury suffered by James Maddison during pre-season.

Talks were held last week between Spurs and Palace and it had been suggested that Eze could sit out of his side’s Premier League opener at Chelsea on Sunday.

But with no agreement having yet been reached by then, the England midfielder played in the 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge, and was unlucky to see a brilliant free-kick disallowed.

Boss Oliver Glasner suggested after the match that he expected Eze to still be available to him for Thursday night’s Conference League clash with Fredrikstad.

But that now appears to be a remote possibility.

Palace have identified Leicester star Bilal El Khannouss as a potential replacement for Eze.

While Club Brugge star Chris Tzolis is also on the Eagles’ radar.

Tottenham have now landed a Premier League proven star No10, having previously come close to signing Morgan Gibbs-White earlier this summer.

Spurs believed that they had reached a deal for Gibbs-White, only for the swoop to fall through.

Eze is set to become Tottenham’s sixth signing of the transfer window.

The Lilywhites began their summer by making initial loans for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel permanent.

A £5m swoop for Japanese centre-back Kota Takai followed, before Spurs spent £55m on West Ham star Mohammed Kudus.

Joao Palhinha then joined on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.

Eze may not be Spurs’ final signing of the summer window.

Tottenham remain interested in Manchester City winger Savinho.

Although, per the Independent, Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche has emerged as an alternative option to the Brazilian.
