The Promoter’s Call: Frank Warren Believes Fury vs. Joshua is Far From Over

The Promoter’s Call: Frank Warren Believes Fury vs. Joshua is Far From Over

Promoter Frank Warren still believes a Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight can happen. He points out that their fans are eager to see the two battle it out in a long-awaited clash. Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) could fight Tony Yoka and Jake Paul. Warren just signed the 2016 Olympic gold medalist Yoka.

The Ultimate Lure for Fury

Fury, 37, is too young to stay retired for good. Warren points out that Fury is a “wealthy” man. So, he doesn’t need money, but he’s also a fighting man. It’s what he’s done for much of his life. As such, he might be able to resist the temptation to return for the long-awaited mega-fight

Joshua is targeting the fight against the popular Jake Paul next in a contest that could be bigger than the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford event. Once Joshua gets through the Paul fight, there’s the possibility of Fury if he chooses to come out of retirement. When Tyson sees the amount of fan interest that Joshua-Paul attracts, he’ll be lured out of his brief slumber to finally face AJ in what promoter Eddie Hearn calls “The Battle of Britain.”

Joshua vs. Olympic Winner Yoka

Even if Fury doesn’t choose to resume his career, Joshua vs. Yoka would attract a lot of interest from fans. The selling point would be two Olympic gold medalists getting it on. Joshua captured an Olympic gold medal for Britain in 2012. As I mentioned earlier, Yoka won his gold medal in the 2016 Olympics.

The Fight Fans Still Demand

“There have been a lot of talks for a long time, and it heated up again recently. It’s all about whether this fight happens with AJ. For example, if he fights Jake Paul and comes through it, and if Tyson has a fight, who knows if they’ll get it on?” said Frank Warren to Sky Sports News about the Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight possibility.

“Is it too late? I think there’s tremendous interest in the fight,” said Warren. Every time we talk about Tyson and AJ, that subject comes up – when are they going to get in the ring together? I can see that fight happening.”
