Dillian Whyte got upset today with announcer Thomas Schreiber mistakenly calling him “The Baby Snatcher” while announcing him to the small crowd of media during the Grand Arrivals in Riyadh. Screiber got Whyte’s ‘The Body Snatcher’ nickname badly wrong. He later apologized to him.
Whyte’s ‘Baby Snatcher’ Gaffe
It had to have been especially annoying to Whyte (31-3, 23 KOs) because he’s being given no chance of winning his headliner fight against heavyweight contender Moses Itauma on DAZN PPV. Dillian is being given no respect.
Fans and the media overwhelmingly are predicting a quick knockout for the 20-year-old Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs). He hasn’t beaten anyone even nearly as good as Whyte during his pro or amateur career, yet he’s being chosen to demolish what’s left of the 37-year-old Whyte.
“Obviously, I’m against it. It’s a good place to be. I’ve got nothing to lose. It’s good to be in this position,” said Dillian Whyte during today’s Grand Arrivals in Riyadh for his fight against Moses Itauma on Saturday. “I’m one of the best fighters in the world. I’d love to get revenge for my two defeats [to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua].”
If Whyte can hang around long enough to test Itauma’s chin, he’s got a chance of winning on Saturday night. It’s a bad sign that he’s lost so much weight, though. Dillian looks like a person who has been on a calorie-restricted diet. He looks like he has a lot of muscle as well as fat, and appears older. The weight loss might backfire on Whyte, causing him to be weaker without giving him any benefit.
Dillian’s Underdog Mentality
“It’s new to him. I’ve been in this position so many times,” said Whyte about Moses Itauma.
“A lot of people turned down the fight against him because he’s young, fresh, and knocking guys out. I said, ‘Let’s get it. I don’t give a f***,” said Whyte to Secondsout about him not being afraid to fight Itauma. “The black person is going to win,” said Dillian about his prediction for the fight.
