Rosado on Crawford’s do-or-die mission

Rosado on Crawford’s do-or-die mission

Gabe Rosado says Terence Crawford won’t be moving a lot in his fight with Canelo Alvarez on September 13th. He notes that Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is a fighter and doesn’t move a lot in his fights. With the weight that he’s put on for their fight, he won’t be able to move even if he wanted to.

“People say Canelo has problems with movers. The reality is, Crawford is not a mover. Crawford is a fighter that works on angles. He’s not on his feet like Muhammad Ali. He’s not that kind of boxer,” said Gabe Rosado to Fight Hub TV. “So, he’s going to be there to be hit, and that favors Canelo.”

Crawford’s do-or-die mission

The weight that Crawford has put on will make it even tougher for him to move around. He looks like he’s made his mind up, and is on a do-or-die mission. Terence is banking on his extra size being enough to carry him to victory. If not, he’ll at least have tried. He wasn’t going to come in slender, being too small and weak to compete with Alvarez.

“Overnight, is Crawford going to switch his style and become a mover, moving up three weight classes? Now, you’re going to put all that weight, and you’ve never boxed like that before. How can you? I just don’t see him changing his style,” said Gabe.

It’s been years since Crawford did a lot of moving in a fight. When he went up in weight to 147 in 2018, that’s when he began to slow down. The last time he moved a lot was against Viktor Postol in 2016. He was 28 then. Crawford turns 38 next month on September 28th, and he can’t move any longer.

Terence’s pride and ego risk

“Crawford is a guy with heart, and he really is a fighter. There’s going to come a time where if Canelo catches him, his pride and his ego is going to get in there, he’s going to try and get it back. That’s going to open up opportunities for Canelo to land big shots,” said Rosado.

Terence won’t want to put on a Jerry-type fight with Turki Alalshikh sitting in the front row at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The guilt would eat Crawford up because he’s being paid $50 million. He won’t want to let Turki down by running all night.
