MANCHESTER UNITED have rejected a stunning FIVE approaches for Harry Maguire this summer.
The future of Maguire, 32, had been uncertain this summer as United eyed a clearout following their worst-ever Premier League season that saw them finish a lowly 15th place.
The club have had the chance to offload the England international from Old Trafford this summer following offers from THREE Premier League clubs and two from Italy.
However, the Red Devils’ transfer bosses have rejected every approach, SunSport understands.
It’s believed United are considering offering him a contract extension to allow him to see out his career in Manchester.
Maguire’s current £190,000-a-week deal at the club expires at the end of this upcoming season and there is concern he can speak with foreign clubs about a free transfer this coming January.
The former Leicester star is thought to be keen to stay on at Old Trafford, where he arrived for a then record-breaking £80million fee for a defender in 2019.
It’s understood no talks have yet taken place regarding a possible extension.
Maguire has had a growing presence in pre-season after initially not travelling with the main squad to the USA for their participation in the Premier League Summer Series.
He did eventually travel and featured off the bench against West Ham and Everton and started against Bournemouth before being taken off at half-time.
In 2023, Maguire had been on the cusp of joining David Moyes’ West Ham in a deal worth around £30m before it collapsed.
After appearing to be on the periphery at United under Erik ten Hag, Maguire has fought his way back to the forefront of thinking for current boss Ruben Amorim.
In January, the 40-year-old called Maguire a “leader again”.
Maguire recently spoke about his goals for the upcoming season after recently returning from injury.
He told Red Devils club media: “I just want to be part of a successful team this season. I think last season was a tough season for everyone individually, but also as a team, as a squad, as a club.
“This season, there are no excuses. We’re going to have a lot of time to prepare for the Premier League games, and we’ve got to make sure we’re ready.
“So, for myself, it’s making sure I’m available, I’m fit, I’m ready to go, and give everything I can to this team and this club.”
Other clubs linked with Maguire include French sides Marseille and Monaco, while Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Galatasaray are known to be admirers – the former two of which are managed by ex-United bosses Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Maguire has made 246 appearances for United, scoring 15 goals, including the dramatic winner in the Europa League thriller against Lyon at Old Trafford.
Man Utd have one final pre-season fixture remaining on the calendar before opening the Premier League season against Arsenal.
They will take on Italian outfit Fiorentina on Saturday at 12:45pm at Old Trafford, where legendary former goalkeeper David de Gea will properly be able to wave goodbye to fans following his exit in 2023.
In terms of transfer activity, United are rivalling Newcastle for the signature of RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko.
As SunSport exclusively revealed, they are also keen on Ollie Watkins if they fail to land the 22-year-old Slovenian, with the Aston Villa star said to be available for around £40m to £50m.
