Bees knees
Brentford have made a shock move for Arsenal ace Leandro Trossard as they eye a summer swoop, FootballTransfers reports.
The 30-year-old Belgian has been a handy option for Mikel Arteta but could be on the way out with Brentford lining him up to replace Yoane Wissa.
Wissa is pushing for a move to Champions League-bound Newcastle, and the Bees are ready to offer Trossard a tempting three-year deal.
No Eze work
Arsenal have been warned that Liverpool’s pursuit of Marc Guehi could throw a spanner in the works of their plans to sign Eberechi Eze, according to The Mirror.
The Gunners are expected to move for Eze once some players depart, with the England international reportedly keen on a switch to north London. However, Liverpool’s interest in Guehi, Eze’s teammate at Crystal Palace, could complicate matters.
Palace are reluctant to let two key players leave in the same window, though Liverpool are currently focused on securing Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
Shock move
Thomas Partey is set to join Villarreal, according to reports.
The Ghana international ended his five-year spell at the Emirates at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Four days after leaving Arsenal, Partey was charged with five counts of rape against two women.
He is also accused of sexually assaulting a third woman.
Partey – who denies all the charges – was first arrested in July 2022 but not named while continuing to play for the club as investigations were ongoing.
The 32-year-old is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5.
And now the ex-Premier League star is reportedly on the verge of joining Villarreal, according to The Athletic.
Gyok to sort it our
two days before Gyokeres flew to Singapore – SunSport understands that senior officials were still desperately trying to iron out details surrounding the future add-ons owed to Sporting Lisbon.
Gyokeres admitted to SunSport in Hong Kong that the past few weeks – the waiting, the uncertainty, the immense spotlight and media duties upon signing – had taken its toll on him, and understandably was not rushed into action by Arteta, given just 13 minutes off the bench against Spurs in an attempt to ease him into his new surroundings.
But his aura is there for all to see. Arteta was keen to see the look in the eyes of the squad when Gyokeres walked through the door, and he liked what he saw.
Art project
ESPN claim that avoiding injury prone players was a key part of Arsenal’s recruitment strategy this summer.
The club have bolstered Mikel Arteta’s options and are desperate to avoid another run-in plagued by injuries.
Transfer business has been “significantly influenced” by players’ injury history.
London calling
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Real Madrid star Rodrygo, but Tottenham could snatch him from under their nose, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After struggling to break into Real Madrid’s starting XI last term, Rodrygo’s future has become uncertain at the Bernabeu.
He hasn’t made it public that he wants to leave, but the fierce competition for the first team spot in the attack could force him to leave to play regularly next season, especially since the World Cup is set to take place next summer.
Rodrygo is a versatile forward and can play anywhere across the frontline. He has proven his worth at the highest level and would be a great coup for Tottenham to replace Son should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manages to lure him away from the Bernabeu before the end of this transfer window.
