Christian McCaffrey had a rough 2024 season.
But so far, so good in the 2025 offseason for the San Francisco 49ers’ star running back.
McCaffrey missed time last fall due to Achilles tendonitis and then followed that up with a right PCL injury.
Now, though, everything seems just fine.
“I feel great,” McCaffrey told ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
He explained his mindset further, too.
“I think this offseason I spent a lot of time kind of building back a base starting from scratch, so a lot of it was rehab,” McCaffrey told Wagoner, “and wanted to put myself in a position where I didn’t miss a day of OTAs and I could practice and play football again, be healthy and not miss a day, and I did that.”

CMC was a superstar in 2023 with 2,023 yards from scrimmage and 23 total touchdowns.
That’s part of what made his 2024 so disappointing. He played in only four games and put up 348 total yards.
The 49ers downsized their running back room this offseason, trading away backup Jordan Mason to the Vikings.
Second-year RB Isaac Guerendo will likely be the guy relied on most heavily behind McCaffrey, and he’s still a bit unproven.
Ideally, the 49ers have McCaffrey feeling “great” by the end of the season, too.
