It was a tough year for the Kansas City Chiefs in certain areas. While the team found plenty of success, losing in the Super Bowl, the Chiefs weren’t as dominant as they typically are.
There were a few reasons for that, but the struggles from future Hall of Famer Travis Kelce were at the top of that list.
Kelce is one of the best tight ends in NFL history, and one bad season doesn’t change that. However, it was a disappointing year for the veteran, and something Kansas City has to hope doesn’t happen again next year.
He’s on the books for a cap hit of $19.8 million in 2025, and some believe that’s one of the worst deals in the league.
Roto Baller is one of them, with them suggesting that Kelce is the seventh most overpaid player in the NFL.
“Travis Kelce makes the Chiefs’ organization (and the NFL as a whole) a lot of money. Unfortunately, that’s mostly because of his star value off the field. On the field, the future Hall of Famer is no longer an NFL superstar.
“Kelce can still be a valuable money-making asset if he retires, as he’ll root for the Chiefs from the stands. But he’s set to return for at least one more year,” Aidin Ebrahimi wrote.

Naming him the seventh most overpaid player in the NFL might be a stretch, but there were times when things were very ugly. The Ohio native still managed to post 823 yards, but Kelce scored just three touchdowns, the fewest of his career by a wide margin.
Kelce had a career low in yards, too, but there’s reason to be optimistic about him figuring it out.
